About Us
As the founder of Heritage Trek, | have always had a passion for history and road trips and am fascinated with how my perceptions of places change when | become physically and emotionally connected to historic events that occurred there:
Thinking about the soldiers that travelled a forgotten road to meet their adversary and hopefully survive the day.
Walking through the old general store that once served the social and commercial needs of a community.
Finding the location of a lost tavern that was a stopover for travelers and a hub for news.
Visiting old cemeteries to learn about the families and the communities they built.
| decided to combine my love of history and road trips and create a company to take history off the bookshelf, reconnect it with the landscape, and provide the tools to take history on the road.
Headquartered in northwest Florida, the Heritage Trek team locates and records historical information, manages resource data, field validates information, and creates practical products to showcase heritage trekking opportunities. We believe heritage tourism is about sharing stories and providing the historical interpretations that are the basis for a successful touring and learning experience. Our goals are to:
Improve visitor experiences with the past through observation and, as applicable, interaction with local historic and cultural resources.
Enhance awareness and connections with local history, leading to measurable improvements in the protection and preservation of historic and cultural resources.
